With the door opened at the urgent behest of Alucard’s now broken axe, Emma and Alucard stepped into the room. Steffon stayed standing in the hallway, lifting his crossbow and aiming it at the barrel as they approached - better safe than sorry. As it turned out, opening the barrel was much more sorry than safe. Two strange elemental creatures burst forth as Alucard and Emma lifted the lid together, and Steffon hurriedly released his crossbow bolt - sending it crashing straight into the wall. With a grunt he pulled out another bolt and fitted it in the firing mechanism, but this wasn’t the time for more bolts. This was the time for music. His lute and crossbow switched placed, both attached to leather straps around his chest. The second that his fingers touched the strings the creature that appeared to be made of ice turned to him, and he took his chance. ”Pain within, pain without, Take your chance, take your rout. Fire scorches, fire burns, Take your leave, no returns.
Feel the thunder, feel the crash, Make your exit, make your dash. Burn it down, burn it hot, Off you go, off you trot.”The words were intended for the creature alone, and Steffon knew that it had heard them - but it didn’t have the reaction as intended. It let out a piteous moan of pain, but it made no effort to run away - not yet, at least. In apparent retaliation the creature let out a blast of ice towards the three of them, and Steffon let out a yelp and tried to hide himself behind the frame of the door. Unfortunately it didn’t completely cover him, and his elbow was engulfed in a cold that sent a chill through to his very spine. With a grimace he looked back into the room, just as Emma made her own attack. Blinding light filled the chamber, causing Steffon to cover his eyes. Another pained moan emitted, but one slightly different than before - the second creature had felt the brunt of the attack this time. This steam creature used its own breath attack next, filling the room with a hot steam that luckily didn’t move as far as Steffon in his doorway. He let out a sigh of relief just as Alucard leapt forwards. The man’s teeth sunk deep into the steam creature, his moan turning to a howl as the pair split apart, Alucard’s mouth seeming to drip with some kind of energy. Whatever it was, it seemed to revitalise him - which would certainly be useful if these creatures were as tough as they looked. HP ( damage) Icey Boi: ?? (5)Steamy Boi: ?? (8)

A fierce battle ensued between the party of three and duo apparitions. The engagement was hard fought for the trio, being that the room was rather small, making it quite difficult for them to avoid the onslaught of consecutive breath attacks. Even Steffon, who lingered in the safety of the hallway, could not escape the savage bellows from the elemental wisps.
Things were looking grim for the party as their health continued to dwindle until the suave Steffon brandished his instrument with a mystical melody. His words laced with magic assaulted the frigid figure, inspiring fear so dreadful that caused it to flee. Alucard on his guard had been waiting for such an opportunity, and none was better than when the creature turned its back to him in angst.
The vampire felled the ghostly being with a mighty swing, which came as a relief to the party. Little did they realize the extinguished beast would offer them no solace. The frosty wraith had more in store for the trio and exploded in a violent burst that sprayed them with remnants of its former being.
By now, the party was feeling the effects of a hard-fought battle. Especially the young and inexperienced priestess who was ready to collapse at any moment. Fortunately, the mighty sword of Alucard managed to cleave its way through the final ghostly figure in heroic fashion before Emma fell to her knees.
The battle was over, or so they thought. Just like its comrade, the steamy beast had peppered the trio with a barrage of its former visage. The more robust men were able to fend off most of the damage by protecting their vitals, evidence of their past training and devotion to their strength.
Emma, however, was too fatigued to brace herself against the impact. Instead, she took the full brunt of the explosion to her frail exterior and crumpled to the floor in a bloody mess of her own bodily fluids. Incoherent mumbles were all that escaped her lips between shallow breaths as her body twitched sparingly.
Alucard and Steffon expected the worst until a bright wave of light washed over their bloodied companion. Moments later, Emma sat up in a weakened stupor, having barely managed to utter a prayer to the exarch Lliira saving her life. After narrowly escaping death, the trio retreated to the safety of the room across the hall, where they could tend to their wounds and get some much-needed rest.

After a period of rest, Emma was fully recovered after their most recent battle. During the night watch, she even managed to squeeze in some time to study, gaining new insight into a mysterious power hidden within her. She was eager to put this new knowledge into practice and summoned a spirit in the form of a small spider to aid her along their journey while also creating an apparition that would follow her will.
Finally, the young priestess even managed to harness light itself, to some small degree, with which she attached to her shield to brighten the area around her. After waking Steffon, the party was ready to resume their journey into the ruins. Using her newfound companion, Emma sent the spider out into the hallway to make sure it was safe. Having spotted nothing out of the ordinary, the young girl proceeded outside the room and down the hall towards the door leading to an unchecked room.
Once again, Emma had the spider creep its way inside while the others followed along behind and waited for the creature to relay information. While using the summons sense, the young girl could find nothing outwardly threatening inside and so she determined it would be safe to enter.
"It looks alright for us to enter," said Emma as she handed her quarterstaff to her ghostly servant while temporarily dismissing the spider back to its comfy home. "Just in case, I think the ghost should enter first," she continued while preparing herself for what might come should she have missed something inside the room. "Off we go then," she said after looking over the others to be sure they were ready before nodding to the servant to open the door and head inside.

Steffon stepped slowly into the room, Alucard mere steps behind him as Emma began to prepare some kind of spell. Her spider had sensed no danger from the room, and their vision was enough to corroborate that fact. There were various oddities in the room, but nothing seemed overtly dangerous - only one thing even hinted at life, a small whimpering in a nearby bedroom. No more than four feet in length, whatever it was seemed to pose no threat to the pair of adventurers. Steeling his resolve, Steffon stepped forwards. ”Who goes there?” he said, his voice loud enough to be heard by whoever was sleeping in the bedroll.

For a second Steffon froze, his hand almost moving to the weapon at his hip as the creature emerged from the bedroll. After seeing his sorrowful face and beaten-down demeanour however, he relented and took another step forwards towards the Kobold. ”Meepo, it is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Steffon, and my companions are Alucard and Emma. What are you doing here? What is this place?”As he spoke, he noticed Alucard behind him begin to investigate the room - perhaps he would find something before Steffon could draw information out from the Kobold.

The room was far larger than any they had been in since entering the ruins of the citadel and it was almost pleasing to not feel the claustrophobic embrace of the smaller rooms and narrow hallways up to this point. To their left was a large metallic cage, void of rust or dust, which sat empty. A large pit that was filled with ash from a recent fire, the coals still slightly burning, was to their right. Between the two was a wooden bench, draped with a green cloth. Several small objects rested upon it and a bedroll laid near it. Alucard's eyes continued to scan the room as a small whimper was heard from the bedroll... he opted to let the others deal with whatever pathetic creature rested within its confines.
As the damphir continued to scan the symbols on the walls he noticed while he could not read them they at least looked familiar to the images etched in stone they saw on their way here. Fascinating he thought to himself as he stood before what appeared as an alter. Several jade dragon figurines were scattered about it with a smattering of other useless materials. A presence pushed into his consciousness, a heaviness that seemed other worldly and that had been plaguing him since their night of sleep within the citadel. "Take them." the words were whispered in his mind but held the weight of oblivion within them. Had his nightmare been more than nightmare? The words stirred a deep and nefarious energy within himself and his lips cracked into a grin as he picked up the figurines and then turned toward the fire pit, his eyes picking up some materials within the ash itself as he walked by the damaged cage all while Steffon talked to the newly present and clearly upset Kobold. Kneeling down the mercenary scooped up some more jade figurines while kicking over the utterly useless remains of unusable and scrap material. Alucard's eyes fell once more toward the mangled up cage and scratched his chin before turning and walking up to and behind Steffon. His crimson eyes peered at the creature who professed to be Meepo. The same voice spoke inside his head... "Pathetic Creature... perhaps we should end its suffering... feast upon its soul my child!" Alucard gripped his fists tightly as the voice echoed in his mind and grit his teeth. "NO!" He yelled into the void of his inner thoughts, his echoing voice only welcomed by a dark sadistic chuckle. Steffon knelt beside the crying Kobold, but his head turned first to Alucard - he had stepped into the room and was taking various items that seemed to be of value, taking advantage of the fact that the Kobold was otherwise indisposed. ”It’s okay, Meepo. Where is the dragon now? What happened? Are you here alone?”
