The elf girl wasted no time accepting Legolas's invitation, but she did express some doubts before introducing herself. Nilly? A silly name for an elf, but she seemed a good sort, Legolas thought. Certainly, he couldn't fault caution, especially after the wizard's party was cut down on the same quest.
Despite Nilly's apprehension, the monk, who excitedly introduced himself, was ready to go immediately. At once, the archer could see the wisdom in both of their mindsets, but the excitement of his first real adventure outside of the High Forest was too much to set aside.
"I'm with Li Jie," he said, standing. For the moment they'd been talking right over Beiro's head, so Legolas walked around to the other side of the group to avoid being rude. "I say we make haste through the night. The orc won't expect us to be able to see as well as them in the dark. They are likely to be sloppy, especially after a big win."
This seemed enough for the monk, who called out to the tavern's owner and asked about details that might lead them in the direction of the wagon. The barman scratched at his chin, chewing on the question for a moment. "All my stock comes local," he replied with a shrug. "Though, if me memory of me ole adventurin days serves right, Phanadlin is South of here on the High Road. The path cuts off to the East somewhere, but if you hit Leilon you've gone too far."
Turning away, the Gnome returned to his place behind the bar, grumbling to himself. "Back in my day, we just walked down a road until adventure found us. These kids want everything handed to them..." Giving no indication that she'd overheard his rant, the elf girl made her way over to him and quite literally begged for a map. He looked at her incredulously. "Sure, five gold pieces and I'll drew ya up a map. I guess it would be the monk paying though, wouldn't it?" he said, frowning slightly.
Legolas smiled thinly. Five gold pieces was high-way robbery, and the Gnome had already shared some solid information. "Well, it seems we have a heading," he said, clapping his hands together. He looked at his two new companions with earnest, ready to set out the moment they were.
Aranil only manages to remember that the path that intersects the High Road, heading East, is called the Triboar Trail.
